Typical Member of Congress

First - let me explain one thing, I am NOT an anarchist, so please don't write me any annoying emails explaining the flaws of Anarchy, I already know.

Now, on to my feelings about the U.S. government. This country was founded by criminals, outcasts, and refugees from Europe as a "haven" of tolerance. It is anything except that. There is no true freedom here, you aren't allowed freedom of religion (say you are a Satanist and see how you are discriminated against, same goes for Wiccans, Buddhists, Hindus, and any non-"mainstream" religion). There is no racial unity here (hell, the same people who founded America also imported people as slaves); not to mention the Native Americans who were wrongfully driven from their land. The colonists were far from the heroes that they are portrayed to be. They were murderers, rapists, and overall the exact same type of people they "fled" Europe to escape from.

Now, you would think that as time progressed, people would have realized how hypocritical the colonists were, and attempt to progress past this. Hell no, what would America be without the discrimination that exists even to this day. I'm not going to go into a long "400 years of oppression" speech, that (although it is true) has been beaten to death. I'll just analyze certain undeniable facts to prove that this country is not the "land of the free and the home of the brave" rather it is the "land of the oppressed and home of the cowards".

I'm sure most of you are wondering where I'm getting my idea that this country is run by a group of cowards. Let me explain, I'll start with the Persian Gulf War. The United States decided they wanted to harass a small Middle Eastern country and interfere in international matters that DO NOT involve them. I understand there were political and economic reasons for the war (war is good for the economy), but if the United States insists on starting wars, why not at least pick on a country that has the ability to fight back. Recently, because President Clinton wanted to get the media off his dick, it was decided that it would be prudent to drop a couple of bombs on The Sudan and Afghanistan. Ok, I can really see those two countries fighting back. All 12 citizens of each country will charge the U.S. with pointy sticks. Give me a fucking break. If war is so damn beneficial and the U.S. wants to play the role of the schoolyard bully, why the hell don't they attack a real country. Go attack China, Israel, Russia, Germany or some other country that will FIGHT BACK. Or would that not be as much of a profitable venture? This just shows that America is run by a group of cowards. I'm sure anyone would say its wrong as hell for a 7 foot tall 300 pound 25-year old to go bludgeon a 4 foot tall 85 pound 7 year old. It's the same principle. None of the previously mentioned countries EVER started a conflict/skirmish with the United States, the U.S. just decided to go blow someone up to releive some boredom.

I could get into many of the obvious problems with the country (misappropriation of Government funds, lack of support for our own homeless people while billions are shipped overseas for aid, the oxymoron of freedom of speech, etc.); but I'm trying to make it a point to keep this brief and stay away from the obvious. This country was born on the blood and sweat of oppressed minorites, and continues to grow through the same forms of oppression. Immigrants from Haiti and Mexico are treated like shit, while European immigrants are treated as if they were gold. Haitians who risk their lives to escape their war-torn country and come to the "friendly" shores of America on make-shift rafts are kicked right back to Haiti, while the Europeans who decide to come over here are welcomed with open-arms. And, I don't want to hear any misinformed shit about welfare and being productive members of society. If anything, people from war-torn countries are MORE willing to contribute to society, while the people who are used to comfortable lives in other countries are willing to just be a drain on their new society. Remember, being productive is more than what kind of job one has, its also what one does to improve their situation and the situations of those around them.

So next time you have a patriotic urge to say you live in the most socailly advanced, industrialized, and "greatest" country in the world, I invite you to realize it's not as great as people would like to believe. America has made very little social or diplomatic progress since the 18th century, and doesn't seem to be on the path to make a whole lot more in the next several centuries. (If you've ever been outside of the U.S. or spoken to people vacationing here from other countries; it seems to be pretty evident that America is the most hated country in the world today, this goes to show the lack of respect anyone, except for people who are brainwashed by what the American media tells you, has for this country).
